How to apply for Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) — Osceola County in Florida
Osceola County Council on Aging — Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program
Who it's for
The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) helps income-eligible Osceola County households pay home heating and cooling bills, with crisis help when a shutoff is imminent or service is already off. In Osceola County it is delivered by Osceola County Council on Aging. Households of up to 8 people qualify with gross income at or below 60% of the state median income (150% of the federal poverty guidelines for 9 or more); priority goes to households with a member 60 or older, a person with a disability, or a young child. Payments usually go straight to the utility company.
LIHEAP is income-tested at or below 150% of the federal poverty guidelines (60% of state median income) and is served first-come, first-served while funds last, so this shows as a may-qualify result. Households with a member 60+ or disabled, or a young child, are prioritized.
