How to apply for Minnesota Aging Pathways (formerly Senior LinkAge Line)
Minnesota Board on Aging (via the Area Agencies on Aging)
Who it's for
Minnesota Aging Pathways (1-800-333-2433) — formerly the Senior LinkAge Line — is Minnesota's free, statewide help line for older adults and caregivers: Medicare counseling (Minnesota's SHIP), help comparing Part D and Medigap plans, screening for Medicare Savings Programs and Extra Help, long-term care options counseling, and connections to local services. Operated by the Minnesota Board on Aging through the Area Agencies on Aging. The name changed in 2026; the service and phone number are unchanged.
Counseling is free and phone-first; enrollments it helps with have their own eligibility rules.

What to say when you call
"Hello, I'm calling to ask about Minnesota Aging Pathways (formerly Senior LinkAge Line). I'd like to know whether I may qualify, what documents I need, and whether I can apply online, by mail, by phone, or in person. I understand I may need none — call to get started — is anything else required? What is the best next step?"
Tip: have a pen ready, ask for the person's name, and write down any case or reference number they give you.
Step by step
- Call Minnesota Aging Pathways at 1-800-333-2433 or visit the program's official website to get started — no documents are needed before you reach out.
- Tell the counselor what you need help with, such as Medicare plan comparisons, Extra Help or Medicare Savings Program screening, or long-term care options.
- Work with the counselor to review your options and get connected to local services or programs that fit your situation.
- If the counselor helps you apply for a specific program, follow any steps that program requires — each one has its own eligibility rules and process.
What to expect: After you call or connect online, a trained counselor will guide you through your questions at no cost. Because Minnesota Aging Pathways is a counseling and referral service, there is no application to submit and no renewal required for the help line itself. If the counselor connects you to another program — such as a Medicare Savings Program or Extra Help — that program will have its own review and renewal schedule. Ask the counselor or the relevant agency for an estimate of processing times for any programs you apply to through their guidance.
