How to apply for Independent Living Services for People Who Are Blind or Visually Impaired (Tennessee)
Tennessee Department of Human Services, Blind and Visually Impaired Services
Who it's for
This state program helps people who are blind or have a serious vision loss keep caring for themselves at home and in the community. It serves all ages, and it has special funding for people 55 and older. A rehabilitation instructor works with you one on one. Help can include counseling, a low-vision check, training to travel safely, learning braille or talking devices, and training in daily living skills such as cooking and managing your home. Staff also connect you with other help in your area, including in rural counties. To refer yourself or someone else, call 1-833-772-8347.
Serves people who are blind or have a severe visual impairment; the state decides who is eligible. The extra services for older adults are for people 55 and older.
