San Juan County Aging Services (Area Agency on Aging)

Who it's for

San Juan County Aging Services in Monticello is the Area Agency on Aging for older adults and caregivers throughout San Juan County. Call 435-587-3225; staff can help you find the right program even if you do not know what to ask for. Senior Nutrition Sites in Blanding, Bluff, La Sal and Monticello serve meals and offer activities, and home-delivered meals are also available. In-home programs help eligible older adults and veterans stay safely at home: Alternatives, the Medicaid Aging Waiver and Veteran-Directed Care. The office also offers caregiver support, free Medicare help, help with rides to medical care, the Long-Term Care Ombudsman, Tai Chi and fall prevention classes, and telephone reassurance calls. The county also lists Navajo Nation senior centers in Aneth, Dennehotso, Navajo Mountain, Oljato, Red Mesa and Teec Nos Pos.

AAA services are free or donation-based, and some have waiting lists or eligibility rules. Most Older Americans Act services start at age 60. Utah Medicaid decides Medicaid long-term care eligibility.
