How to apply for Redi-Wheels ADA Paratransit (San Mateo County)
San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans)
Who it's for
Redi-Wheels is SamTrans's ADA complementary paratransit service for San Mateo County. It serves people whose disability prevents them from independently using SamTrans bus service some or all of the time — there is no age or income requirement, just functional ADA eligibility. To apply, call the SamTrans Paratransit Eligibility Office at 1-650-366-4856 (or 650-508-6241 for an application). All applicants must complete an in-person evaluation, which is scheduled by appointment and may take up to two hours plus travel time; final eligibility determinations can take up to 21 days from the appointment date. Specific functional criteria evaluated include ability to independently board/disembark, identify the correct vehicle or stop, maintain balance on the vehicle, follow trip directions, and access to the fixed-route service.
Redi-Wheels eligibility is functional (cannot independently use SamTrans bus service due to a disability) and requires an in-person evaluation by SamTrans, which may take up to two hours and a determination of up to 21 days. The scan cannot perform that evaluation. There is no age or income requirement. To start, call the SamTrans Paratransit Eligibility Office at 1-650-366-4856.
