How to apply for Charlotte County Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) Paratransit

Charlotte County Transit Services — Community Transportation Coordinator (CTC)

Who it's for

Charlotte County's Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) Program provides curb-to-curb paratransit service for Charlotte residents who are physically or otherwise disabled, age 60 or older, OR qualify as low-income. The TD program operates parallel to the free fixed-route service and is designed for riders who cannot reach a bus stop or who need door-to-door assistance to access essential destinations: medical centers, pharmacies, grocery stores, and other community services. Unlike most peer ADA paratransit programs, Charlotte's TD program is OPEN BROADLY — eligibility is met by any ONE of three categories (disability OR age 60+ OR low-income), not the conjunction. This is materially more accessible than the narrow ADA-only eligibility at most peer FL counties (where seniors without ADA-qualifying disabilities are excluded from paratransit). Charlotte's TD service is provided at a discounted rate (specific fare varies by funding source). Apply by calling 941-833-6233 to request the Transportation Disadvantaged Application.

Charlotte's TD Program is unusually accessible — ANY ONE of three categories qualifies you: disability, age 60+, or low-income. This means seniors WITHOUT ADA-qualifying disabilities can still receive paratransit, which is a meaningful expansion over the strict ADA-only model used in most peer FL counties (Sarasota Breeze Plus, Lee Passport, Collier CATConnect, Pinellas Access, etc. all require ADA functional eligibility). This catalog record gates on age>=60 as the most common senior pathway; disabled-only and low-income-only seniors should also apply via the same TD process. Apply by calling 941-833-6233. Note that even though TD is the door-to-door pathway, Charlotte's free FIXED-ROUTE service may also work for some destinations and is functionally simpler for ambulatory riders.
