How to apply for Charlotte County Transit — Free Fixed-Route Service

Charlotte County Transit Services — Charlotte County Department

Who it's for

Charlotte County Transit is unique among major Florida transit systems: ALL fixed-route bus service is FREE for every rider, regardless of age, income, or disability status. No fare is charged at boarding; no senior discount card is needed; no proof of age is required. This makes Charlotte the most accessible public transit system in the modeled FL major-county cluster — joining Miami-Dade (Golden Passport, free for 65+) and Duval (JTA STAR Card, free for 65+) as one of only three FL counties where seniors ride at no cost, AND the only one where ALL passengers ride free regardless of age. The system serves Charlotte County connecting Port Charlotte, Punta Gorda, Englewood, and the surrounding communities with essential destinations including medical centers, pharmacies, grocery stores, and community services. Operating hours are Monday through Friday 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Call 941-575-4000 for routes and schedules, or visit charlottecountyfl.gov/transit for the current bus map.
