How to apply for Marion Transit Services (TD + ADA Paratransit)

Marion Transit Services — operated under Marion Senior Services, Inc. as the Florida Transportation Disadvantaged Coordinated System provider for Marion County

Who it's for

Marion Transit Services is the door-to-door shared-ride transportation program for Marion County residents who cannot drive, cannot afford a vehicle, or cannot use SunTran fixed-route service due to a disability. It is operated through Marion Senior Services, Inc. as the designated Florida Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) coordinated system provider for Marion County, with ADA-eligible riders also served under the same operational umbrella. Two paired pathways share the same intake: Florida TD eligibility (for low-income riders without ADA-qualifying disabilities who have no other transportation option) and ADA paratransit eligibility (for riders whose disability prevents use of SunTran fixed-route buses). The Ocala/Marion Transportation Planning Organization's TD Local Coordinating Board meets at Marion Senior Services (1101 SW 20th Court, Ocala) and oversees the program. Apply through Marion Senior Services at (352) 620-3501 or visit the office at 1101 SW 20th Court, Ocala, FL 34471 for an application packet.

Marion Transit Services eligibility is decided by application — disability alone (ADA pathway) or low income (TD pathway) does not automatically qualify; the application must be reviewed and approved. This scan can tell you that you appear functionally eligible to apply. Two pathways share the same operational umbrella but have different gating criteria: the ADA pathway requires medical documentation of disability functionally preventing fixed-route use; the TD pathway requires demonstration of need plus income eligibility. For Marion's largely rural geography, Marion Transit Services is often the ONLY public transit option for rural residents — SunTran fixed-route serves only the Ocala urban corridor. Apply at Marion Senior Services, 1101 SW 20th Court, Ocala, or call (352) 620-3501.
