Marion Transit Services is the door-to-door shared-ride transportation program for Marion County residents who cannot drive, cannot afford a vehicle, or cannot use SunTran fixed-route service due to a disability. It is operated through Marion Senior Services, Inc. as the designated Florida Transportation Disadvantaged (TD) coordinated system provider for Marion County, with ADA-eligible riders also served under the same operational umbrella. Two paired pathways share the same intake: Florida TD eligibility (for low-income riders without ADA-qualifying disabilities who have no other transportation option) and ADA paratransit eligibility (for riders whose disability prevents use of SunTran fixed-route buses). Marion Transit Services eligibility is decided by application — disability alone (ADA pathway) or low income (TD pathway) does not automatically qualify; the application must be reviewed and approved.
