How to apply for Gilmer County Age 65 School Tax Homestead Exemption in Georgia
Gilmer County Board of Tax Assessors, 1 Broad Street, Suite 104, Ellijay
Who it's for
Gilmer County homeowners who are 65 or older by January 1 do not pay school taxes on their home. There is no income limit for this local exemption. It is on top of Georgia's statewide homestead exemptions, which are listed separately. You must own and live in the home and be a legal resident of Gilmer County as of January 1. Apply in person at the Gilmer County Tax Assessor's Office or online through the property search on the assessors' website, and upload a photo of your Georgia driver's license or ID. Once granted, the exemption renews on its own. Call 706-276-2742.
