How to apply for Durable Medical Equipment Re-Use Program — Maryland

Maryland Department of Aging

Who it's for

Maryland's Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Re-Use Program gives free medical equipment to Marylanders with any illness, injury, or disability, at any age and with or without insurance. Donated equipment is cleaned, repaired, and handed out at pickup sites around the state. Basic items include canes, crutches, walkers, rollators, shower chairs, tub transfer benches, bedside commodes, and toilet safety rails. Complex items include wheelchairs, power scooters, home hospital beds, and lifts. No prescription is needed, but a health care professional must fill out part of the form for complex items. Request equipment online or with a paper form. Staff will contact you about what is in stock and set up a pickup.

Equipment comes from donations, so what you ask for may not be in stock. Staff contact you after your request is processed to confirm availability and schedule a pickup.
