How to apply for Senior Property Tax Freeze (SB 190) — Carroll
Carroll County (program authorized by RSMo 137.1050, adopted by county action)
Who it's for
Carroll County has adopted Missouri's senior property tax credit (SB 190): homeowners 62 or older can freeze the real-estate tax bill on their primary home, so it stops rising in later years. Applications: The deadline will be June 30 of each year.. Carroll County adopted a Senior Property Tax Relief ordinance (https://www.carrollcountymo.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/senior-tax-credit-ordinance.pdf). The Collector-Treasurer page links the application, an FAQ and the ordinance. Applications must be signed before a notary and filed with the Collector's office; the Collector auto-renews the credit in subsequent years as long as the owner of record does not change. Apply through the county's program office.
The freeze applies only to the primary residence, requires an application with Carroll County (often annually), and county rules control what is frozen and any home-value limits — the county makes the final determination, so this shows as a may-qualify result.
