How to apply for Senior Property Tax Freeze (SB 190) — Henry

Henry County (program authorized by RSMo 137.1050, adopted by county action)

Who it's for

Henry County has adopted Missouri's senior property tax credit (SB 190): homeowners 62 or older can freeze the real-estate tax bill on their primary home, so it stops rising in later years. Applications: Applications are due by June 30th of the tax year.. Henry County Commission adopted Ordinance No. 2025-0529, "AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A PROPERTY TAX CREDIT FOR ELIGIBLE SENIOR CITIZENS PURSUANT TO SECTION 137.1050, RSMO", intended to take effect with the 2025 tax year. The full ordinance text is published on the county page. The freeze applies to all ad valorem taxes including school, township and fire district levies. Homestead includes the dwelling, non-commercial accessory structures and up to five (5) acres of contiguous land. Applicants must not be delinquent on real property taxes. The page also links "2027 Senior Tax Relief Application" and the amendments PDF. Apply through the county's program office.

The freeze applies only to the primary residence, requires an application with Henry County (often annually), and county rules control what is frozen and any home-value limits — the county makes the final determination, so this shows as a may-qualify result.
