Orange County residents who are age 60 or older or who have a disability can get low-cost or fare-free rides. Orange County Public Transportation runs demand-response and rural service; its fixed routes are fare-free under a one-year pilot that began January 2, 2026. Chapel Hill Transit fixed-route buses are fare-free, and its EZ Rider ADA paratransit and Senior Shuttle serve older and disabled riders.
