How to apply for Tuolumne TRIP — Volunteer Driver Mileage Reimbursement in California
Tuolumne County Transit Agency (TCTA)
Who it's for
If you cannot use the regular bus or Dial-A-Ride, TRIP pays back the mileage when someone you choose drives you — a neighbour, a friend, a family member. You recruit your own driver and TRIP reimburses the miles at the IRS standard mileage rate, paid to you monthly. Approved trips include health care, banking, errands, shopping, visiting friends and family, religious activities, volunteering, dining, recreation, meetings and rehabilitation. If you live within 10 miles of Sonora you can claim 30 miles per one-way trip and up to 300 miles a month; everyone else can claim 38 miles per one-way trip and up to 375 miles a month.
Trips must be pre-approved through the eligibility process before you can claim them. You cannot claim mileage for riding Tuolumne County Transit fixed route, Dial-A-Ride or other public transport — TRIP is for when those do not work for you. Out-of-county travel is decided case by case and capped at 300 miles per round trip. You are responsible for submitting your claims on time.
