How to apply for Arkansas Family Caregiver Support Program (through the Area Agencies on Aging)
Arkansas DHS Division of Aging, Adult, and Behavioral Health Services (DAABHS), through Arkansas's eight Area Agencies on Aging
Who it's for
The Arkansas Family Caregiver Support Program helps family members and other unpaid caregivers care for a loved one at home for as long as possible. It is run by Arkansas's eight Area Agencies on Aging, which work with local groups to offer help such as information about caregiving, one-on-one counseling, support groups, caregiver training courses, respite care to give the caregiver a break, transportation, and minor home changes. The program also helps grandparents raising grandchildren and older relatives caring for children 18 and younger. These services are free. To find your local Area Agency on Aging, call the Choices in Living Resource Center toll-free at 1-866-801-3435, Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Services and waiting lists differ by region and depend on funding. Your local Area Agency on Aging decides what help it can offer.
