How to apply for AHCCCS Medicaid — SSI-MAO (Aged, Blind & Disabled)
Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS)
Who it's for
AHCCCS is Arizona's Medicaid program. The SSI-MAO pathway covers people who are age 65 or older, blind, or have a disability, with income at or below 100% of the Federal Poverty Level ($1,330/month for one person, $1,804 for a couple, as of February 2026). There is no separate asset test listed for SSI-MAO on the AHCCCS eligibility chart, and there is no premium. Coverage is delivered through an AHCCCS managed-care health plan. Apply at Health-e-Arizona Plus.
Income limit is 100% of the Federal Poverty Level ($1,330/month single, $1,804 couple, effective February 2026). The AHCCCS eligibility chart lists no resource/asset limit for SSI-MAO (shown as N/A) — Arizona does not apply the traditional $2,000/$3,000 asset test to this category. Coverage is managed care (fee-for-service only for emergencies); there is no $ premium. People who need long-term/nursing care apply through ALTCS instead. Not legal or financial advice.
