How to apply for Half-Off Pass (HOP) — Visalia Transit (Tulare County) in California

Visalia Transit, City of Visalia

Who it's for

HOP lets you buy a Visalia Transit monthly bus pass for $25 instead of the usual $50 — half price, with unlimited rides on all fixed-route buses. Once you are approved you can buy up to six months of half-price passes, which the City says saves $150. To apply, take a valid photo ID to the Visalia Transit ticket window at 425 E Oak Avenue and fill in the form there.

HOP is for NEW riders only: you must have been riding Visalia Transit for less than six months and never have applied before. It is not a senior programme and has no age limit. If you already ride, or you are 65 or over, check Visalia Transit's senior reduced fare instead — it may be the better deal and it does not run out after six months. HOP is grant-funded and offered only while the funding lasts.

People who qualify for one senior program often qualify for others. See everything you may qualify for — free, no SSN, about five minutes.
