How to apply for HUSKY C: Connecticut Medicaid for people who are aged, blind, or disabled

Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS)

Who it's for

HUSKY C is the Connecticut Medicaid program for people who are 65 or older, and for adults who are blind or have a disability. It pays for a wide range of health care. HUSKY C also includes long-term services and supports, such as nursing home care and home and community-based services (Medicaid waivers). The monthly income limit is $851 for a single person or $1,153 for a married couple. The asset limit is $1,600 for a single person or $2,400 for a married couple. If your income or assets are over the limit, you may still qualify through the spend-down program by using the extra amount on medical bills. For long-term care, the income limit for a single person is $2,982 a month. Apply online at ConneCT or call the DSS Benefits Center at 1-855-626-6632.

The income limit shown does not include the unearned income disregard, and some income is not counted. People over the limits may still qualify through spend-down. Adults under 65 must meet the disability or blindness rules. DSS makes the final decision.
