How to apply for TheBus Senior Reduced Fare (Hernando County)

Hernando County Transit (TheBus), a Hernando County government department

Who it's for

TheBus is Hernando County's public fixed-route bus system, serving the Brooksville and Spring Hill corridors with regular service connecting the North Campus (Brooksville) and the Spring Hill Campus (US 19). Riders age 65 and older qualify for a reduced fare with a government-issued photo ID at the farebox. For frequent riders, TheBus offers a Reduced Fare Photo ID Card issued by the Transit Operations Office; once obtained, the ID is shown at boarding to receive the reduced rate. Apply for the Reduced Fare Photo ID Card by submitting an application to the Transit Operations Office at 700 Aeriform Drive, Brooksville, FL 34601, by email at thebus@hernandocounty.us, or by phone at (352) 754-4444. Passengers who don't have the Photo ID or can't produce proof of eligibility when boarding must purchase a regular fare — for occasional riders, showing a Medicare card or driver's license at boarding is usually simpler than getting the dedicated ID card.
