Atrium Health (Advocate Health), whose Carolinas Medical Center is the main public safety-net hospital in Charlotte, and Novant Health, which also operates hospitals in Mecklenburg County.

Atrium Health gives free care to patients with household income at or below 300% of the federal poverty guidelines, and an automatic 50% discount to uninsured patients.
