How to apply for SoonerCare (Oklahoma Medicaid) for people who are aged, blind, or disabled
Oklahoma Human Services (OKDHS) decides eligibility; the Oklahoma Health Care Authority (OHCA) runs SoonerCare
Who it's for
SoonerCare is Oklahoma's Medicaid program. Its Aged, Blind and Disabled program gives full health coverage to people who are 65 or older, blind, or disabled and have low income and savings. Oklahoma Human Services (OKDHS) decides who qualifies. Under the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary Plus (QMBP) group, which qualifies a person for SoonerCare medical services, countable monthly income can be up to $1,350 for one person or $1,824 for a couple. Savings and other countable resources can be up to $9,950 for one person or $14,910 for a couple. Some people with very low income may also get a small State Supplemental Payment in cash. To apply, contact your local OKDHS Human Services Center or call 405-522-5050 for help applying online.
Limits are for countable income and savings, and some income and property is not counted. The limits shown are the highest full-coverage limits; people who do not have Medicare may be checked against lower limits ($2,000 in savings for one person). People under 65 need a disability decision from Social Security. Limits change each year. OKDHS makes the final decision.
