How to apply for Hospital Charity Care / Financial Assistance - Monroe County

Who it's for

Hospitals that serve Monroe County - including the Starr Regional Medical Center Sweetwater campus - offer financial assistance (charity care) for patients who cannot afford care. Uninsured and underinsured patients with limited income can get free or discounted hospital care. Federal law requires nonprofit hospitals to have a written Financial Assistance Policy under IRS Section 501(r), and hospitals set their income thresholds and discounts in that policy.
