How to apply for Arizona Lifespan Respite — Respite Voucher and Day Center Respite

Arizona Caregiver Coalition, which runs the Lifespan Respite grant with the Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES), Division of Aging and Adult Services

Who it's for

The Arizona Lifespan Respite programs give unpaid family caregivers a break at no cost. The Respite Voucher pays you back, up to $2,400, for in-home respite, caregiver training, recreation, or home changes that make caregiving easier. You hire an agency, a friend or a neighbor, pay them, and send the receipt and timesheet for repayment. The Day Center option pays an adult day center for up to 150 hours. The person you care for can be any age, must need constant care, and cannot be left alone. You must live with them full time or within 5 miles, and neither of you can get other publicly funded or insurance-paid respite. Apply online with the Arizona Caregiver Coalition, or call the Caregiver Resource Line at 888-737-7494.

The voucher goes to the unpaid family caregiver, not the person who gets care. The rules shown here describe the person receiving care as a stand-in. Processing takes 2-4 weeks and depends on grant funding. The respite worker must be 18 or older, cannot live with the person, and cannot be a spouse, parent, child or guardian.
