Who it's for
The San Bernardino County Department of Aging and Adult Services–Public Guardian (DAAS) is the county's designated Area Agency on Aging under the federal Older Americans Act, and the gateway for residents age 60 and older to find and connect to senior services across San Bernardino County. Core services include: Senior Information and Assistance (1-800-510-2020), which screens and refers callers to the right programs; HICAP, free one-to-one Medicare and health-insurance counseling; Older Americans Act Title III nutrition (congregate lunch sites and home-delivered meals through contracted providers); the Family Caregiver Support Program; the Long-Term Care Ombudsman; In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS); and Adult Protective Services. DAAS operates six offices across the county — San Bernardino, Rancho Cucamonga, Victorville, Needles, Barstow, and Yucca Valley — so high-desert and mountain residents have local access. Any San Bernardino County resident 60 or older can call Senior Information and Assistance to get a personalized list of the programs and services they qualify for.
