How to apply for VVTA Direct Access Paratransit (Victor Valley)
Victor Valley Transit Authority (VVTA)
Who it's for
Direct Access is VVTA's federally mandated ADA complementary paratransit service for Victor Valley residents whose ADA-eligible disability prevents them from using VVTA fixed-route buses. Coverage includes Victorville, Hesperia, Oak Hills, Apple Valley, Adelanto, Barstow, Lucerne Valley, and Helendale/Silver Lakes. ADA certification is required before riding. Fares are zone-based: Zone 1 $2.50, Zone 2 $4.50, Zone 3 $6.00; certified Personal Care Attendants ride free and companions pay regular fares. After ADA certification, riders pick up their identification card at VVTA's Hesperia main office (17150 Smoke Tree St., Hesperia). Reservations can be made by phone or through the VVTA AccessLink app. Direct Access covers the Victor Valley only — the San Bernardino Valley is served by Omnitrans's OmniAccess and Big Bear/Rim of the World by Mountain Transit.
ADA paratransit eligibility requires VVTA's certification process, and after approval you must pick up your Direct Access ID card in person at VVTA's Hesperia main office (17150 Smoke Tree St., Hesperia, Mon–Fri 8am–4pm) — the scan cannot perform that evaluation or schedule the in-person step. The service area is the Victor Valley only (Victorville, Hesperia, Oak Hills, Apple Valley, Adelanto, Barstow, Lucerne Valley, Helendale/Silver Lakes); San Bernardino Valley residents use OmniAccess and mountain-community residents use Mountain Transit. Begin certification by calling 1-877-232-7433 (1-877-ADA-RIDE).
What you'll need
- Completed ADA paratransit application (initiate by phone or web form)
- Documentation supporting your ADA eligibility as completed during the certification process
