Energy Assistance (LIHEAP) — Daviess

County

Missouri's Energy Assistance and Energy Crisis Intervention programs (LIHEAP) help income-eligible households in Daviess County pay heating and cooling bills and resolve utility emergencies. County

Uninsured and underinsured residents of Daviess County can apply for financial assistance (charity care) at Cameron Regional Medical Center for emergency and medically necessary care. Discounts are based on household size and income compared with the Federal Poverty Level. Daviess County has no in-county hospital; nearest is Cameron Regional Medical Center in Cameron, roughly 20 miles southwest of the county seat Gallatin. (Hedrick Medical Center, Chillicothe, is a similar distance east.) Financial-assistance page states eligibility is based on "family income (using Federal Poverty Level guidelines), net worth, employment status, other financial obligations, the amount and frequency of medical bills, and your effort to pay." Senior Property Tax Freeze (SB 190) — Daviess

County

Daviess County has adopted Missouri's senior property tax credit (SB 190): homeowners 62 or older can freeze the real-estate tax bill on their primary home, so it stops rising in later years. Applications: new applications and renewals for 2026 will be available on April 1st. County page headed "WHAT IS THE DAVIESS COUNTY SENIOR CITIZEN TAX CREDIT FREEZE (SB190)?" states: "The Daviess County Senior Citizen tax credit freeze is designed to freeze the real estate taxes on the primary homestead and up to three acres of qualified senior citizens who are homeowners in Daviess County." Eligibility: turn or be 62 during calendar year 2025; be a resident of Daviess County; own and live in your primary residence in Daviess County; be responsible for payment of the home's property taxes; and have no delinquent real estate or personal property taxes. "Only one homeowner listed as the owner needs to be 62 or older." The State's blind pension fund and debt levies are exempt from the freeze, and newly voter-approved taxes are added the first year and then folded into the base year. Senior & Disabled Transit (OATS Transit (Northwest Region)) — Daviess

County

OATS Transit (Northwest Region) serves Daviess County with Service to Gallatin (2nd and 4th Tuesday), Chillicothe (1st Wednesday), Cameron (3rd Wednesday) and Jamesport (2nd Friday); $2.00 each way. The Northwest Missouri to St. Joseph & Kansas City Intercity Express also serves the county - Kansas City on Tuesdays and St. Joseph three Fridays a month, $10.00 round trip, 24-hour advance reservations.. Older adults and people with disabilities can use these services for medical appointments, shopping, and other essential trips. Rides are free or low-cost depending on the service.
