Aging Ahead (Missouri AAA Region 8) is the Area Agency on Aging for St. Louis County. It is the local starting point that connects older adults and caregivers to Region 8 AAA headquartered in St. Louis County (14535 Manchester Rd., St. Louis, MO 63011). Meals on Wheels, senior centers / CHOICE locations, Community Options and Services (options counseling, benefits and resource connection), caregiving services, public education and outreach. St. Louis County has adopted Missouri's senior property tax credit (SB 190): homeowners 62 or older can freeze the real-estate tax bill on their primary home, so it stops rising in later years. The Senior Property Tax Freeze ('STF') freezes most of the real estate property taxes on a senior's primary residence at the base-year level (the first year a qualified senior applied and was approved). Criteria: 62+ as of December 31 of the base tax year; you own the property or have a legal or equitable interest; you primarily reside in the property. Only one primary residence may be claimed and the freeze must be renewed every year. Applications and renewals go through the county's online portal (stlouiscomo.devnetportal.com); in-person help is offered at Clayton (41 S. Central Ave.), South County (Keller Plaza, 4554 Lemay Ferry Rd.) and North County (The Crossings at Northwest, 715 Northwest Plaza Dr.). Proof required: parcel/locator number, proof of identity and age, proof of ownership (deed or trust pages), proof of residence. The freeze excludes the Blind Pension Fund; tax rates are not frozen, the tax amount is. The County Council will review the program within five years of enactment.
