It is the local starting point that connects older adults and caregivers to PSA 3 AAA serving Bland, Bristol City, Carroll, Galax City, Grayson, Smyth, Washington, and Wythe. Home-delivered meals and Friendship Cafe congregate meals, homemaker and chore services, care management, respite, medical transportation for seniors via Mountain Lynx Transit, caregiver support, VICAP Medicare insurance counseling, and ombudsman services. CountyBland County offers real estate tax relief (exemption) for homeowners who are 65 or older or permanently disabled. Total household income must be $35,000 or less, and net worth (not counting the home) must be $85,000 or less. Age and Disabled Credit under Bland County Code secs. 50-76 to 50-79: owner must be 65 or older by December 31 of the preceding year or permanently and totally disabled. Net worth excludes the dwelling and up to one acre. First $5,000 of each non-spouse relative's income is excluded. File between February 1 and April 30 each year. CountyMountain Lynx Transit (District Three Governmental Cooperative) serves Bland County with Public transit operated by the AAA's parent cooperative; demand-response service to Bland County areas at least weekly (fixed-route loops run in Abingdon, Marion, Wytheville, and Galax).
